Traditional trades of the hands replaced the popular low-value edible berries on April 29, 1999. The set of eight was released with very little advanced notice. The stamps were designed by Monique Dufour and Sophie Lafortune, based on photography by Jean-Pierre Beaudin. Official first day covers were cancelled at Quebec City. The original image of the 10c value published by Canada Post had the inscription "Artistic" misspelled as "Artisitic", but the actual stamps exist only with the corrected spelling. It was also announced that all values would be tagged four sides, but were in fact produced without tagging, normal for low value definitives. |
